Timothy M. Buckey

Timothy M. Buckey, MD, MBE, is an Assistant Professor in Medicine and Medical Ethics & Health Policy with a joint faculty position at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He specializes in Allergy & Immunology and Medical Ethics.

Dr. Buckey pioneers the integration of medical ethics into allergy and immunology, developing the first comprehensive ethical framework for the field and advocating for expanded research and training through publications and national interviews. His work addresses food allergy, eosinophilic esophagitis, genetic testing, immunodeficiencies, and equitable healthcare access for vulnerable populations.

As an educator, he mentors students and clinicians at all career stages and will instruct the course “Bioethics and Vulnerable Populations” as part of his role in the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy.
