Timothy Hallett

Professor Timothy Hallett is a Professor of Global Health in the School of Public Health at Imperial College London, part of the Faculty of Medicine. He serves as an Associate Director of the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis and an Affiliate Professor at the Department of Global Health, University of Washington, Seattle.

He holds a PhD from Imperial College London. His research focuses on global health systems, HIV/AIDS modelling, hepatitis, and policy analysis. He pioneered disease modelling methodologies influencing WHO guidelines, UNAIDS strategies, and international health policies. Notable contributions include founding the HIV Modelling Consortium (2010–2019), chairing the UNAIDS Reference Group (2012–2018), and leading the Global Fund’s Modelling Guidance Group since 2016.

His work integrates epidemiology, simulation modelling, and health systems analysis. He advises major organizations like the WHO, Gates Foundation, World Bank, and pharmaceutical companies. His research is funded by Wellcome Trust, Gates Foundation, and UK Medical Research Council.

He received the 2020 Academy of Medical Sciences Fellowship. His current projects include developing holistic health system models for low-resource settings, exemplified by work in Malawi through the TLO Model initiative (tlomodel.org).

Professional roles extend to advisory boards for PEPFAR, UNAIDS, and the Infected Blood Inquiry (UK). He contributes to global health policy through MESH Consortium, NTD Modelling Consortium, and diagnostics initiatives.
