Timothy Fong, M.D., is a Health Sciences Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is board-certified in Addiction Psychiatry and affiliated with the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, as well as the UCLA Gambling Studies Program (UGSP). Dr. Fong specializes in researching and treating behavioral addictions, particularly pathological gambling, and contributes to education and training for mental health providers.
- Research Focus: Behavioral addictions, problem gambling, substance abuse disorders, sleep disturbances in gambling populations, and cultural barriers to treatment.
- Publications: 15+ peer-reviewed articles spanning neuroscience studies, clinical case reports, and behavioral intervention analyses, with key contributions to gambling epidemiology and treatment transparency.
- Program Leadership: Co-developer of UGSP, a nonprofit initiative since 2005 addressing gambling-related harm through research, treatment, and community education.
