Timothy E. O'Brien

Timothy E. O'Brien serves as Professor of Applied and Environmental Statistics at Loyola University Chicago, holding dual appointments in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the Institute of Environmental Sustainability. His office is located in Room 405 of the BVM Hall (IES Building) with mailing address at 1032 W. Sheridan Road, Chicago, IL 60660-1537.

His research focuses on environmental and spatial statistics and toxicology, emphasizing interaction effects through likelihood methods, curvature analysis, statistical modeling, sampling design, bioassay techniques, and synergy assessment. Additional expertise spans biostatistics, epidemiology, bioinformatics, statistics education, and medical ethics. International collaborations include extensive work in Thailand, Nepal, Uganda, Cambodia, Philippines, Japan, China, and Vietnam.

Notable honors include multiple Fulbright Specialist awards (2010-2015), a Jefferson Science Fellowship at the U.S. Department of State (2011-12), and Peace Corps service in Benin (1980-1982). His teaching portfolio encompasses biostatistics, predictive analytics, R programming, nonlinear modeling, and optimal experimental design at undergraduate and graduate levels.
