Alla Podolny

Dr. Alla Podolny is an Advanced Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Loyola University Chicago. She previously held a part-time lecturer position at Lake Forest College and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University. Her academic affiliations include Loyola University Chicago, where she currently teaches, and prior institutions in Russia, Israel, and the U.S.

Dr. Podolny earned a B.S. in Mathematics, Physics, and Education from Samara State University (Russian Federation), followed by a Master’s and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Her Ph.D. research focused on fluid dynamics, specifically surface-tension-driven instabilities in binary solutions and nanofluids under thermodiffusion effects.

Her research interests encompass the theory of nonlinear waves, nonlinear stability in viscous and convection flows, pattern formation, convection in systems with interfaces, microgravity phenomena, and nanofluids. She has published extensively and received the prestigious Fulbright Post-Doctoral Fellowship for her postdoctoral work at Northwestern University on mathematical modeling of biological cell preservation.
