Timothy Chan, MD, PhD is a Professor in the Department of Genetics and Genome Sciences at Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine. He holds leadership roles including Co-Director of the National Center for Regenerative Medicine, Associate Director for Translational Research at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Co-Leader of the Immune Oncology Program. He is also Chair and Founding Director of the Cleveland Clinic's Center for Immunotherapy and Precision Immuno-Oncology.
His research focuses on understanding the genomic basis of tumor development and treatment response, employing large-scale genomic analyses, functional genomics, and immunogenomics. He has published over 200 papers in top journals like Nature, Science, and Cell.
Dr. Chan received an MD and PhD in cancer genetics from Johns Hopkins University, completed a radiation oncology residency, and a fellowship at Johns Hopkins. Awards include the NCI Outstanding Investigator Award and membership in the American Association of Physicians.
His lab explores mechanisms of immunotherapy resistance and drivers of oncogenesis, aiming to develop novel diagnostics and therapies. External roles include directorships in immunotherapy centers and advisory roles at Cell and the Frederick National Laboratory.
