Timothy Buie, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and a Senior Physician in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Boston Children's Hospital. He serves as Co-Director of the GI-Autism Clinic, focusing on gastrointestinal care for children with autism and developmental disorders. His roles include clinical practice, teaching, and research.
Dr. Buie completed his medical degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (1984), residency at Bridgeport Hospital (1988), and fellowship at Yale Medical School (1990). He is board-certified in Pediatrics with a specialization in Gastroenterology.
His research interests center on gastrointestinal disorders in children with autism and developmental disabilities, including endoscopy findings, microbiome analysis, and clinical management strategies. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles on these topics.
Dr. Buie is actively involved in clinical care, contributing to consensus guidelines for GI care in autism and advancing understanding of autism-related gastrointestinal challenges. His work emphasizes improving diagnostic and treatment approaches for non-verbal and neurodiverse patients.
