Alex Koral, MD is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Gastroenterology) at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Dr. Koral's primary research and clinical interests focus on eosinophilic esophagitis, an allergic condition occurring in the esophagus, as well as various endoscopic procedures. He is actively building a multispecialty Eosinophilic Esophagitis program at Yale and pioneering Transnasal Endoscopy techniques in Connecticut. His clinical work encompasses treating common pediatric gastrointestinal issues including stomachaches, constipation, celiac disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Koral has developed expertise in transnasal endoscopy, a procedure that allows for esophageal biopsies without fully sedating children, representing a significant advancement in pediatric GI care.
Dr. Koral has received recognition for his teaching abilities, including the Best Teaching Fellow award in 2015 from Children's Hospital at Montefiore. He is an active member of professional organizations including the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (since 2012) and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (since 2013).
He sees patients at clinical locations in both Trumbull and New Haven, Connecticut, providing specialized pediatric gastroenterological care to the region.
