Timotea Toulopoulou is a Professor at Bilkent University's Department of Psychology and UMRAM (Aysel Sabuncu Brain Research Center) in Ankara, Turkey, and holds a Visiting Lecturer position at King's College London. She has served as Head of the Psychology Department since September 2015.

Professor Toulopoulou's research focuses on schizophrenia neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience, and neurogenetics. She directs the Twin Lab at Bilkent University, investigating neural and genetic mechanisms of cognitive impairments through brain imaging, cognitive measurements, and genotypic data integration. Her work aims to understand structural and functional brain abnormalities in schizophrenia as part of the NIH-funded Genus Consortium neurogenetics project.
Her scientific awards include:

- Brain and Behavior Research Foundation Early Career Award (2005)
- Chinese Academy of Sciences Fellowship (2011)
She has secured research funding from the European Community's 6th and 7th Framework Programs (as Principal Investigator and co-investigator), NIH (USA), Economic and Social Research Council (UK), and Research Grants Council (Hong Kong). She currently supervises 4 master's and 1 PhD student. Professor Toulopoulou serves as Associate Editor for Clinical Psychological Science and on editorial boards of Psychiatry Journal, International Scholarly Research Network Psychiatry, Annals of General Psychiatry, and World Journal of Psychiatry. She reviews for Medical Research Council (UK), Wellcome Trust, and European Research Council, where she chairs advanced grant evaluation panels.
She directs Bilkent University's Twin Lab, which examines genetic and environmental influences on brain structure and function with primary focus on schizophrenia mechanisms.
