Timo Niedermeyer

Timo Niedermeyer is a full professor at the Institute of Pharmacy, Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany, leading the RG Pharmacognosy research group since April 2017. His academic career spans roles at the German Centre for Infection Research (DZIF), Cyano Biotech GmbH, and Riemser Arzneimittel AG, with expertise in natural product discovery and pharmaceutical development.

• Current focus: chemical/biological screening of actinomycetes and cyanobacteria for antiinfective/cytotoxic compounds
• Special interests: microbiome chemical interactions, computational structure elucidation tools, and human transport mechanisms of natural products

Research Highlights: Isolation of bioactive fungal/cyanobacterial natural products, development of analytical methods in GLP environments, and coordination of international teams for preclinical studies. His work bridges pharmacognosy, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical analytics.
