Timo Jakobi

Timo Jakobi is a researcher at the Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG), serving as co-lead of the Institute of Consumer Informatics. Previously, he held the position of Project Lead for Actors, Data and Infrastructures at HIIG, focusing on data governance for data-driven urban planning.

His research centers on developing usable mechanisms for data explanation and management in ICT applications, with emphasis on the empirical interface between user research and data protection law. He integrates consumer perspectives to ground legal frameworks in real-world user experiences, prioritizing data governance, user-centered design, and consumer informatics.
