Timo Gehring

Prof. Dr. Timo Gehring is Professor of Bio- and Environmental Process Engineering at Saarland University of Applied Sciences (htw saar), located in Saarbrücken, Germany. He leads the Chemie Labor & Labor für Bio- und Umweltverfahrenstechnik (CLUB) and conducts research in algae technology, photobioreactors, and scale-up processes. His work focuses on applied engineering solutions for renewable energy systems and environmental sustainability.

Research Focus: The CLUB laboratory under his leadership specializes in algae-based biotechnology, including automated cell counting systems and industrial-scale production optimization. Current projects include ALGAE-BOOST (EFRE/Interreg VI-A funding), SAFE-Algae-Scale-up (TÜV Saarland Stiftung), and Co-PBR initiatives, with international collaborations involving Université Lorraine, Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology, and Université Liège.
