Dr. Timber Yuen is an Associate Professor at the W Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology, McMaster University. He holds a P.Eng. license and has 15 years of industrial experience prior to academia, working at SPAR Aerospace and ATS Automation. His expertise includes Automotive and Vehicle Engineering Technology, Robotics, Control Systems, and Vibration Control. He has served as Chair of the B.Tech. Automotive & Vehicle Engineering Technology Program from 2016 to 2022. In 2021, he received the McMaster MSU Teaching Award for his innovative methods and mentorship.
Research interests focus on fluid dispensing, robotics, and experiential learning. He currently teaches 7 courses annually in Automotive & Vehicle Engineering Technology and Manufacturing Engineering Technology, including Robotics and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (AUTOTECH 4CI3), Control Theory (AUTOTECH 3CT3), and Capstone Design II (AUTOTECH 4TR3).
He actively supports student career development, tracking graduate employment rates (over 80% full-time placements or graduate school admissions within 6 months of graduation in 2021/2022). His teaching emphasizes practical demonstrations to engage students. Beyond academia, he manages sound systems for his church and enjoys audio system projects.
