Tim Whitmarsh

Tim Whitmarsh is the Regius Professor of Greek at the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Classics, succeeding his role as A. G. Leventis Professor of Greek Culture (2014–2023). He serves as Editor in Chief of the fifth edition of the Oxford Classical Dictionary. His research focuses on Greek literature, culture, and interdisciplinary approaches to classical studies.

He is based at the Faculty of Classics on Sidgwick Avenue, Cambridge (CB3 9DA). Whitmarsh supervises PhD students but is not available for consultancy. His affiliations include roles in teaching and research administration within the University and Colleges.

Recent activities include organizing events like the 'Bridging Binaries LGBTQ+ Tour' and the 'Localizing the Indigenous, Globalizing the Classics' seminar. He actively engages with public scholarship through lectures and editorial work.
