Tim Wales is a University Librarian at Cranfield University, UK, with over two decades of experience in academic library leadership. Previously, he served as Head of Library Services at Brunel University and held roles at Rothamsted Research, University of West London, London Business School, Royal Holloway (University of London), and Open University. He holds an MSc in Information Science from City St George’s, University London, and graduated from the University of East Anglia.
Research Interests: Wales focuses on library strategy development, information literacy, library technologies, and user experience in academic libraries. His work explores the intersection of digital tools and traditional library functions, particularly in distance learning contexts and library estates planning.
Key Themes in Scholarship: His publications highlight innovative library services for diverse user groups, including MBA alumni and part-time students. Recent work (2025) critically examines the concept of 'privileged spaces' in academic libraries, while his 2024 chapter provides a leadership perspective on library-estates integration.
