Prof. Dr. Tim Vahle-Hinz is a Professor at the Berlin School of Psychology, where he leads the Department of Organizational, Economic and Social Psychology. His research focuses on occupational health psychology, examining how organizational factors impact employee well-being through both positive (development opportunities) and negative (health risks) pathways. Key research areas include constant availability, social media use at work, recovery processes, and physiological stress indicators like heart rate variability.
His publications demonstrate consistent focus on work stress dynamics using longitudinal and diary methodologies. Recent work explores pandemic-induced work changes, team resource dynamics, and temporal aspects of psychological needs. Earlier studies established foundations in non-traditional work arrangements and workplace social interactions.
Vahle-Hinz advises graduate students including doctoral candidate Janine Schreck and research assistant Johan Hänsch. He directs multiple projects:
- Easy Relax: Developing micro-break interventions with Health and Medical University Potsdam
- Making unlimited leave work: International study on self-selected leave arrangements
- Temporal dynamics of stressors: Longitudinal analysis of work condition changes
- OpTiMa: Examining autonomy and work-nonwork balance
He collaborates with researchers across Europe including the University of Groningen and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
