Dr. Tim Schibik is the Assistant Dean and Professor of Economics at the Romain College of Business, University of Southern Indiana (USI). He has been a Professor at USI since 2001 and assumed his role as Assistant Dean in 2009. His academic contributions include research on managerial economics, tax policy, art economics, and higher education administration. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics (West Virginia University, 1989), two M.A. degrees in Economics (West Virginia University, 1986; Youngstown State University, 1983), and a B.A. in Economics (Youngstown State University, 1981).
Dr. Schibik’s research spans diverse topics such as international tax competition, the economic valuation of visual art, and the impact of tuition policies on student performance. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Business Economics (2007) and recipient of the Integra Bank Distinguished Professor award (2005). His teaching focuses on MBA coursework, including ECON 601: Managerial Economics, leveraging Blackboard for online instruction.
His work emphasizes student engagement and institutional effectiveness, with studies on part-time faculty utilization, course management systems, and student retention strategies. He advises graduate students on balancing academic rigor with professional demands, advocating for realistic time management in graduate programs. Dr. Schibik’s interdisciplinary approach bridges economic theory with real-world applications, particularly in tourism, art markets, and educational policy.
