Tim McAndrews is a Professor of Archaeology at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UW-L), serving as Chair of the Department of Archaeology & Anthropology and Director of the Mississippi Valley Archaeology Center. He teaches courses on Andean archaeology, the rise of complex societies, theory and history of archaeology, and biological anthropology.

Research Interests: McAndrews specializes in South American/Andean archaeology, with a focus on the rise of complex societies, origins of urbanism, and sedentary village-based adaptations. His work includes extensive settlement pattern research in the Bolivian and Peruvian Andes, as well as cultural resource management (CRM) projects in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia, and Virginia. He has conducted fieldwork in regions like Moquegua (Peru) and Cochabamba (Bolivia) to study Tiwanaku's socio-political influence.
Academic Engagement: McAndrews actively involves undergraduates in international field schools, including trips to Cochabamba, Bolivia, and the United Kingdom (Galway, Ireland; London, England) for immersive courses on urban origins and world archaeology. His roles emphasize mentorship, program development, and access to UW-L's state-of-the-art facilities.
