Tim Lämmermann is a Full Professor and Director of the Institute of Medical Biochemistry at the University of Münster since October 2023. He leads a research group focused on immune cell dynamics, particularly neutrophil swarming, macrophage networks, and mast cell functions in inflammation. Previously, he served as a group leader at the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics (2015–2024) and trained as a postdoc at the NIH/NIAID (2009–2014) and PhD student at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry (2004–2009). His work integrates cell biology, immunology, and metabolomics.
- Education:
- Undergraduate in Molecular Medicine, University of Erlangen-Nürnberg
- PhD, Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry
Research Interests center on innate immune cell migration and inflammatory signaling, with key contributions to understanding neutrophil swarming, mast cell survival mechanisms, and macrophage network dynamics. His team employs intravital imaging, metabolomics, and genetic models to dissect immune responses in vivo.
Publications (2022–2024) highlight interdisciplinary themes bridging immunology, cell biology, and metabolic regulation. Recent studies explore integrin-mediated migration, Arp2/3 complex functions, and microbiota-driven inflammation. His lab has pioneered methods for rare cell analysis and live imaging of immune processes.
