Tim Lenton is a Professor of Climate Change and Earth System Science at the University of Exeter. He researches the coupled evolution of life and planet Earth, develops Earth system models, and studies climate tipping points. His work informed the 1.5°C climate target and associated net zero goals.

He collaborates with policymakers and businesses to assess climate change risks and promote positive tipping points for sustainability. In 2023, he led a global team to produce the Global Tipping Points Report in partnership with the Bezos Earth Fund, published at COP28.
