Tim Flood

Tim Flood is a professor of geology at St. Norbert College, where he co-founded the geology program and served as the first geologist on faculty. His research spans igneous petrology, field geology, and science education, with extensive fieldwork in Antarctica, Costa Rica, the Philippines, and the United States.

Flood’s scholarly work focuses on the geochemical origin of continental crust and innovative science education methods. He has led over 24 extended field trips, including 13 international expeditions, and co-authored studies on topics like rapakivi granite formation in Antarctica and volcanic sequences in Alaska.

His recent publications analyze melting regimes in Antarctica, science education integration for K-8 teachers, and petrologic characterization of volcanic tuffs. These works intersect geochemistry, volcanology, and pedagogical strategies.
