Dr Tim Eggington serves as an Official Fellow, Fellow Librarian, and Keeper of the Old Library at Queens' College, University of Cambridge. Holding a BA Hons, MA (Wales), and PhD (London), he manages both the College's War Memorial Library (student library) and its medieval Old Library, developing services that directly support the College's teaching and research objectives.
Eggington is a musicologist specializing in English music and eighteenth-century musical culture, with particular expertise in manuscript and print studies. His research explores the inter-relationships between musical style, historical awareness of music, and collecting practices during the Enlightenment period. His influential book, The Advancement of Music in Enlightenment England: Benjamin Cooke and the Academy of Ancient Music (Boydell Press, 2014), established him as a significant contributor to eighteenth-century music scholarship.
His publication record reveals consistent scholarly engagement with the Academy of Ancient Music and Benjamin Cooke across multiple decades. His recent work includes editing the respected book history periodical Transactions of the Cambridge Bibliographical Society and preparing an edition of Benjamin Cooke's orchestral setting of William Collins's 'Ode on the Passions'.
