Dr. Tim Collins is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Manchester Metropolitan University's Faculty of Science & Engineering. Holding a Ph.D. in Electronic & Electrical Engineering (1997) and a 1st class B.Eng. (1993) from the University of Birmingham, he specializes in applied signal processing across medical devices, 3D audio systems, and digital heritage preservation.
His research bridges machine learning for physiological monitoring, virtual cuneiform tablet reconstruction, and acoustic interface design. Notable contributions include the Virtual Cuneiform Tablet Reconstruction Project and uncertainty-aware neural networks like DeepPulse for wearable heart rate estimation.
