Tim Braunholtz-Speight is a Lecturer and Research Fellow at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, University of East Anglia. His work focuses on city-level climate mitigation strategies, community energy systems, and alternative financing models. He contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action (SDG 13) and sustainable cities (SDG 11). Prior roles include research at the University of Leeds, Overseas Development Institute, and the University of the Highlands and Islands.
Research Interests: Climate policy, decentralized energy systems, community-led initiatives, and the intersection of finance and sustainability. His current projects include the CAST Centre’s city-level mitigation research and the EnergyREV consortium’s exploration of local energy business models.
Recent Projects: Co-Investigator on the 'Truly Affordable Housing Finance for Net Zero' project (2024–2025), focusing on real estate finance and net-zero transitions. Active in the UKERC Financing Community Energy project and studies funded by Power to Change.
Key Contributions: Over 20 peer-reviewed articles on topics like smart local energy systems, crowdfunding in energy sectors, and policy frameworks for community energy finance. His work bridges academic research with practical policy recommendations for sustainable development.
