Professor Tim Acott is a part-time Professor in Human Geography at the University of Greenwich, affiliated with the School of Humanities and Social Sciences within the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He joined the university in 1993 after earning his PhD from the University of Stirling. His research focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to sense of place, cultural values, and environmental management, with a particular emphasis on arts-based methods in diverse landscapes and seascapes.
Acott has held roles such as Programme Leader for BSc Environmental Science and BA/BSc Geography, Director of Learning and Quality (NRI), and Director of the Greenwich Maritime Centre. He has taught subjects including Sustainable Development, Environmental Ethics, and Environmental Sociology. Since 2009, he has secured over £8M in research funding, leading projects valued at £6M+ with support from UKRI (NERC, AHRC, ESRC), INTERREG, and consultancies.
