Tiia Sudenkaarne is a Senior Researcher at the University of Lapland’s Faculty of Social Sciences, contributing to the ReproTime project (Academy of Finland, 2024–2028). She holds a DrSocSci from the University of Turku (2021) and expertise in queer feminist bioethics, applied ethics, and posthumanism.
Her research focuses on the ethical dimensions of reproductive technologies, antimicrobial resistance, and temporal consequences of biotechnologies. She chairs the Finnish Association for Medical Law and Ethics (SLOES) and serves on the advisory board of Feminist Approaches to Bioethics (FAB). She is editor-in-chief of the Finnish Society for Queer Studies’ Journal (SQS-lehti) 2025 issue.
Key areas of inquiry include embodiment, care, gender, and justice in health contexts. She has organized international conferences featuring scholars like Lance Wahlert and Amrita Pande, and her work bridges queer theory, ethics, and posthumanism.
Award-winning presenter with 13 peer-reviewed publications and over 40 conference participations, Sudenkaarne’s interdisciplinary approach addresses socially mediated injustices in health and technology.
