Tiffany Moore Simas

Tiffany Moore Simas, MD, MPH, MEd, is Chair and Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UMass Chan Medical School, holding the Donna M. and Robert J. Manning Endowed Chair. She also holds academic positions in multiple departments across T.H. Chan School of Medicine and Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, including Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and Population Health Sciences.

Her education includes a BA in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology from Clark University, an MPH from Harvard University, and an MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Her research focuses on maternal and child health, particularly maternal mental health, gestational weight gain, and disparities in obstetric care. She has led numerous NIH-funded grants and contracts, including studies on preeclampsia biomarkers, perinatal depression interventions, and gestational diabetes prevention.

Dr. Simas advises medical students and residents on research projects, with a focus on obstetric outcomes and patient care improvements. She has authored over 200 publications, emphasizing perinatal mental health, maternal morbidity, and healthcare equity. Her work bridges clinical practice, public health, and policy to address systemic gaps in women’s healthcare.
