Tiffany E. Barber

Tiffany E. Barber is Assistant Professor of African American Art at UCLA, specializing in visual culture of the Black diaspora. Her interdisciplinary research examines abstraction, dance, fashion, and ethics of representation.

Awarded the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery's 2022 Director's Essay Prize, Barber's work analyzes how Black artists navigate identity, embodiment, and social justice through visual media.

Fellowships include residencies at ArtTable, Delaware Art Museum, and Getty Research Institute. Barber curates exhibitions exploring Black feminist aesthetics and contributes critical commentary on contemporary visual culture.
