Tiffany Dwyer

Dr. Tiffany Dwyer is a Lecturer in the Discipline of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney's Sydney School of Health Sciences, part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health. She holds a PhD (2010) and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy (1999), both from the University of Sydney. Her research focuses on cystic fibrosis (CF) and respiratory physiology, particularly airway clearance techniques, exercise physiology, and non-invasive ventilation. She is affiliated with the Charles Perkins Centre and collaborates with the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Her key research areas include CF airway management, bronchiectasis treatments, and pulmonary rehabilitation. Current projects include the B2 trial on azithromycin and hypertonic saline in non-CF bronchiectasis, and the SALTI-CF trial comparing nebulized saline concentrations. She has taught courses such as PHTY5192 Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy 1 and PHTY2062 Physiotherapy in Respiratory and Cardiac Conditions A.

Dr. Dwyer has received multiple awards, including the 2013 ANZCF Conference Poster Prize and the 2010 European CF Society Young Investigator Award. Over 15 years, she has published extensively on CF exercise interventions, pulmonary rehabilitation, and airway clearance therapies. Her work bridges clinical practice and research, emphasizing patient-centered outcomes and translational physiology.

Grants include a 2023 Strategic Education Grant for embedding professionalism training in health sciences and a 2022 Abbie Fennessy Memorial Fellowship investigating CF glycaemic control post-Trikafta. She supervises Mitchell Taylor's research on airway clearance efficacy in bronchiectasis.

Collaboration highlights include the European Cystic Fibrosis Exercise Working Group, contributing to international guidelines on exercise testing and functional assessment in CF. She actively participates in multidisciplinary clinics and trials, advancing both clinical care and scientific understanding of respiratory diseases.
