Tiffany Chiu

Tiffany Chiu is a Principal Teaching Fellow and Academic Head of StudentShapers at Imperial College London's Educational Development Centre, part of the Central Faculty. She specializes in enhancing teaching practices across disciplines and leads initiatives like the Learning Well Project and SIDUS project. Her work focuses on academic literacy, student identity development, and inclusive pedagogy.

Dr. Chiu holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from King’s College London, and degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Yuan Ze University. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has delivered NVivo training at multiple institutions.

Her research explores student perceptions of 'ideal' academic identities, barriers faced by underrepresented STEM students, and the speaking-writing connection in academic communication. Collaborations include the University of Reading on 'ideal student' frameworks and WeChat-based postgraduate application guidance for Chinese students.

Current projects include a wellbeing-focused learning program and strategies to support underrepresented STEMM learners. She has pioneered formative assessments balancing skills and content, and co-developed pedagogical materials addressing attainment gaps.
