Tien-Shih Hsieh

Tien-Shih Hsieh is an Associate Professor in the Accounting & Finance department at the Charlton College of Business, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He holds a PhD in Accounting from Bentley University (2013), an MS in Accountancy from University of Illinois (2007), an MBA from National Taipei University of Taiwan (2004), and a BS in Accounting from Tamkang University (2002).

Dr. Hsieh's research focuses on Earnings Management, Regulatory Impact on Financial Markets, and Corporate Social Responsibility. His work explores intersections between accounting practices, tax strategies, and technological advancements like XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language). He also investigates behavioral aspects such as executive overconfidence, facial trustworthiness in financial decision-making, and socioeconomic factors in taxation.

Recent publications highlight his expertise in financial reporting standards (XBRL), corporate innovation drivers (STEM education), and ethical considerations in accounting and tax avoidance. Key themes include the role of technology in audit quality, political ideology's influence on financial behavior, and the relationship between CSR performance and disclosure clarity. His academic contributions span corporate finance, regulatory compliance, and behavioral economics.

Dr. Hsieh teaches Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including ACT 211: Principles of Accounting I and online accounting programs.
