Tien-Min Gabriel Chu

Tien-Min Gabriel Chu is a tenured Professor in the Department of Biomedical and Applied Sciences at the Indiana University School of Dentistry, where he serves as Associate Dean for Research and Director of the Graduate Dental Materials Program. He holds adjunct appointments at the Indiana University School of Medicine's Department of Orthopedic Surgery and a courtesy appointment at Purdue University's Department of Biomedical Engineering.

Dr. Chu's research focuses on tissue-biomaterial interactions and regenerative strategies for large bone defects using 3D scaffolds, growth factors, and stem cells. His work spans dental materials science, biomaterials engineering, and translational orthopedics, with recent emphasis on AI-driven imaging accuracy, thrombopoietic agents for bone healing, and CAD-CAM fabrication optimization.

His publications (over 100 peer-reviewed papers) demonstrate expertise in biomaterial degradation, osteogenic induction, and dental prosthetic stability. Key trends include 3D printing applications, cytokine modulation via physical therapies, and scaffold design for load-bearing bone regeneration.
