Tieme Janssen

Tieme Janssen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Developmental Psychology at the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He also holds roles as Assistant Professor at IBBA and LEARN! (Educational Neuroscience), and as a Research Associate in LEARN!. His research focuses on cognitive neuroscience in healthy/clinical populations (e.g., ADHD, dyslexia), neurofeedback, EEG methodologies, and learning motivation interventions. He teaches courses including Developmental Psychology and coordinates the M-thesis Clinical Developmental Psychology program.

Research interests include neurofeedback applications, growth mindset interventions, EEG source-reconstruction, and school motivation dynamics. His recent work explores how mindset interventions and neurophysiological factors influence academic outcomes. Key projects include RCTs on mindset interventions and neurofeedback efficacy.

He has received the Ammodo Science Award (2020). Current projects involve optimizing reading education, high-dosage tutoring for low-income students, and the Social Educational Neuroscience Amsterdam initiative. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education and reducing inequalities.

Publications span topics like EEG in social interactions, pandemic impacts on school motivation, and burnout mediation through vagal activity. Media engagements include public talks on neurofeedback and mindset interventions.
