Tibor Stigter is a Senior Lecturer in Hydrogeology and Groundwater Resources at IHE Delft Institute for Water Education since 2013. He holds an MSc from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (1997) and a PhD from Instituto Superior Técnico - Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (2005). His expertise spans groundwater hydrology, climate change impacts, and sustainable water management. He coordinates the Erasmus+ Mundus Joint Master Programme in Groundwater and Global Change, and teaches modules such as Groundwater Data Collection and Interpretation. His research focuses on transboundary aquifers, coastal groundwater vulnerability, and interdisciplinary approaches to water governance.
Key projects include CLIMWAT (climate change impacts on coastal aquifers) and ADMICCO (adaptation in vulnerable cities). He has supervised over 25 students and contributed to global initiatives like the AQUIFERURAL network. His work bridges science and policy, addressing challenges in semi-arid regions and developing nations.
