Tibor J. Sabo

Tibor J. Sabo is a Full Professor at the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade, where he has worked since 1982. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the same institution in 1994 and has held roles from Graduate Associate to Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and finally Full Professor since 2007.

His research focuses on Coordination Chemistry and Bioinorganic Chemistry, particularly the synthesis, characterization, and cytotoxic activity of platinum, ruthenium, and palladium complexes for potential anticancer applications. He has extensively studied EDDA-type ligands and their metal complexes, contributing to structural elucidation and pharmacological testing.

The scientific awards include the 1982 Award of the Serbian Chemical Society for outstanding academic success. He has participated in national fundamental and innovation research projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Technological Development of Serbia, such as the 2011 project on bioactive coordination compounds for (bio)nanotechnology.

His scientific activities include membership in the Serbian Chemical Society (since 1985) and Serbian Crystallographic Society (since 1998). He has co-authored over 200 publications, including books, reviews, and peer-reviewed papers on topics ranging from metal complex synthesis to crystallographic analysis and anticancer drug development.
