Tiana Balek

Tiana Balek is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad, specializing in Slavic Studies with a focus on Russian and Serbian languages. She has been employed since 2018, progressing from a research intern to her current role.

• Education: Graduated in Slavic Studies (2015), Master's in Russian Lexicology (2016), PhD in Language and Literature (2021) from the University of Novi Sad.

Her research centers on aspectology, morphology, semantics, and lexicology, with a key focus on modal paradigms, aspectual correspondence, and grammaticalization processes. Her work bridges theoretical and applied linguistics through contrastive analysis between Slavic languages.

Tiana's publications highlight trends in aspect theory, modal verbs, and cross-linguistic comparisons, particularly examining imperfections in Russian/Serbian modal paradigms and stylistic properties of derivatives.
