Tian Lu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Systems at the W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems from Fudan University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University. His research focuses on dynamically learning interactions between humans, algorithms, and IT applications to enhance decision-making in high-stakes contexts, particularly through mindful AI innovations that benefit economic and social welfare.
Research interests include Human-AI Teaming, FinTech applications, credit risk assessment, and the ethical implications of algorithmic systems. Methodologies span econometrics, structural modeling, Bayesian approaches, machine/deep learning, and field experiments. Notable work explores how emotional data from social media improves credit risk decisions and the impact of disagreement in human-algorithm collaboration.
Recent publications analyze spillover effects of bike-sharing systems, pricing strategies in P2P lending, and explainable AI techniques for behavior sequence models. His work bridges technical innovation with societal impact, emphasizing fairness in financial technology and adaptive human-machine systems.
