Tiago Ratinho is an Associate Professor at IÉSEG School of Management, serving as Academic Director for the Innovation and Entrepreneurship track. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Twente (Netherlands), an M.Sc. in Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (Portugal), and a B.Sc. in Engineering from the University of Évora. His research focuses on entrepreneurship support systems, entrepreneurial strategies, and the role of innovation ecosystems such as business incubators and science parks. He has extensive experience in academic leadership, including roles at the University of Baltimore and professional consulting in innovation policy and entrepreneurship education.
Ratinho’s research explores themes like impact investment, hybrid organizations, and the interplay between urbanization and entrepreneurial success. His work bridges theoretical contributions and practical implications for policymakers and stakeholders. Recent publications address topics ranging from sustainable entrepreneurship in crowdfunding to the evolution of business incubation services globally. His research has been featured in journals such as Journal of Social Entrepreneurship and Journal of Business Venturing.
His professional contributions include peer reviews for the Research Executive Agency and advisory roles in science and technology parks. He has authored multiple books and book chapters, including Are They Helping? An Examination of Business Incubators’ Impact on Tenant Firms. Ratinho’s interdisciplinary approach integrates entrepreneurship education, innovation policy, and organizational sponsorship to address contemporary challenges in global entrepreneurship ecosystems.
