Tia Keyes is a Professor of Physical Chemistry at the School of Chemical Sciences, Dublin City University (DCU). Her research spans photophysics, spectroscopy, supramolecular chemistry, and interfacial chemistry, with applications to biological and biophysical problems.
- PhD in Physical Inorganic Chemistry (DCU, 1995)
- Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Manchester (UK)
- Lectureship at Dublin Institute of Technology (1998)
- Joined DCU as a lecturer in 2002, promoted to Full Professor in 2014
Her multidisciplinary team focuses on:
- Metallocomplex luminophores for cell imaging and environmental mapping
- Phototherapeutics
- Microfluidic and plasmonic biomembrane systems for drug permeation studies
- Raman Spectroscopy for disease diagnostics
She has over 230 peer-reviewed publications (H index 44) and holds two international patents. Her work bridges fundamental chemistry with biological applications.

- Presidents Prize for Research
- Boyle Higgins Gold Medal and Lecture Award (2024)
Tia has supervised or co-supervised 38 PhD students to completion and leads the Keyes Research Group at DCU.
