Thushara Hewage is a Part-Time Faculty member at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, New York University. He holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Columbia University (2013), alongside degrees from Oxford, Cambridge, and Columbia. Currently on leave from his position as Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of Ottawa.

His research focuses on historical anthropology of South Asia, particularly Sri Lanka's postcolonial political dynamics, emergency governance, and colonial archives. Current projects include a book on 'Genealogies of the Postcolonial State' and analysis of Britain's declassified Migrated Archives. His work appears in journals like Comparative Studies in South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East and Comparative Studies in Society and History.
