Thupten Tsering

Thupten Tsering is a Language Instructor at SIT Study Abroad, specializing in teaching Tibetan language and culture. Since 2010, he has taught at SIT while also serving as a homestay coordinator and co-researcher for students. He previously taught Tibetan at Himalayan International Model Secondary School in Kathmandu for 10 years and currently conducts online colloquial Tibetan classes for a global audience.

Education:

• Bachelor of Arts in Tibetan Language from the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (now Central University of Tibetan Studies)

Research/Teaching Interests: Focused on preserving and transmitting the Tibetan language through innovative pedagogy, integrating cultural context into language learning, and promoting cross-cultural understanding. His work emphasizes accessibility to Tibetan language education worldwide through online platforms.

Personal: A passionate traveler and cultural enthusiast, Thupten Tsering enjoys chess and lives in Boudha, Kathmandu, with his family.
