Prof. Thorsten Fögen is an Associate Professor (Reader) in Classics at Durham University's Department of Classics & Ancient History. He holds a PhD from the University of Heidelberg (2000) and has held positions at Humboldt University Berlin (Assistant Professor since 2002), the University of Konstanz (Visiting Professor, 2008-2009), and multiple international research fellowships. His research focuses on ancient medicine, philosophy, and Hellenistic poetry, with particular attention to Galen's works and the history of science.

Recent teaching focuses on ancient philosophy and science, including colloquia on Aristotle, Plato, and Hellenistic poetry.
