Thormod Idsøe is a Professor and Research Leader at the Department of Special Education, University of Oslo, with extensive experience in child and adolescent mental health. He has held concurrent roles as Research Director at the National Development Center for Children and Youth (NUBU), Professor at the University of Stavanger's Learning Environment Center, and part-time researcher at the Center for Crisis Psychology and Norwegian Institute of Public Health. His work focuses on bullying, trauma, depressive symptoms, and school-based interventions, utilizing structural equation modeling and longitudinal analysis.
Idsøe has authored numerous studies on adolescent depression, aggression, and acculturation, often employing randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and cluster RCTs. Key projects include the Adolescent Coping with Depression Course, MindPower, and SELMA programs. His research spans educational psychology, developmental psychology, and public health, targeting Norwegian youth populations.
His academic contributions include publications in Frontiers in Psychiatry, BMC Psychology, and Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research, with a focus on CBT efficacy, pandemic-related stress, and social dynamics in schools. He has collaborated with institutions across Norway and mentored students through courses like SPED1100 and SPED4093.
