Thomas Wagner is a Professor for Applied Linguistics at the University College of Education Upper Austria (PHOÖ), with over two decades of experience in second language acquisition, foreign language aptitude, and variation theory applications. His work bridges empirical psycholinguistic research with practical language teaching methodologies, emphasizing data-driven approaches and mixed-methods designs.
- Key affiliations: PHOÖ (since 2014), Johannes Kepler University Linz (2004-2006), Siegen University (2003-2004), Dublin City University (2000-2003).
- Research focuses on irregular verb morphology in interlanguage, language testing frameworks (notably LLAMA), and gifted education integration in language didactics.
- Teaching spans phonetics, advanced grammar, pragmatics, and CLIL methodologies at both secondary and tertiary levels.
His recent publications examine negative inversion acquisition, variation theory implementations, and digital technology integration in EFL, with fieldwork emphasizing Austrian EFL contexts and teacher education. Current projects include BRIDGE-APP (individual differences in primary EFL) and DIGITTIME (digital innovations in language instruction).
