Alla Zareva is a Professor in the Department of English at Old Dominion University's College of Arts & Letters. Her career focuses on second language acquisition, corpus linguistics, and academic discourse analysis, with particular emphasis on lexical development and presentation skills for ESL/EFL learners.
EDUCATION: She earned a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Georgia (2004). Her research spans lexical complexity, mental lexicon structure, and genre analysis of academic presentations.
RESEARCH TRENDS: Her publications examine L2 lexical organization, multi-word verbs, evaluative language in presentations, and corpus-based pedagogy. Recent work extends to sociolinguistic analysis of pandemic-related discourse.
