Thomas Strickland is an Assistant Professor at the School of Architecture, Laurentian University. He holds a PhD in Architectural History and Theory from McGill University, with a fellowship at the Canadian Centre for Architecture (2009) and affiliation with the CIHR Strategic Research Initiative at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on health and the built environment, subaltern place-making, and post-industrial urban development, emphasizing the role of architecture in fostering human rights and social innovation. He is contributing a chapter on public space in the McMaster Health Science Centre to the upcoming *Healing Spaces, Modern Architecture and the Body* (Ashgate Press, 2016). His work spans architectural design, curation, and art initiatives, including founding the research collective *pouf!*, and curating international residencies like Jiwar Creació i Societat (2015). He has received grants from the Canada Council, RAIC, and the Calgary Foundation.
Research interests blend architectural history with urban sociology, exploring how spatial design impacts marginalized communities and public health. His curatorial projects, such as exhibitions with *Points de Vue*, reflect interdisciplinary collaborations addressing global migration and cultural identity. Professional experience includes design roles at top Canadian architectural firms and leadership in the Visual Arts Weeks Society of Calgary.
