معرفی
Thomas Sharp is a Professor in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University (ASU), where he has taught for over 20 years. He holds additional roles as associate director of the Arizona Space Grant Consortium and runs the NASA/ASU Space Grant Program, which supports future scientists and engineers through fellowships and scholarships. His research focuses on impact metamorphism in meteorites, high-pressure minerals in Earth's mantle, and chemical weathering processes on Mars.
Dr. Sharp earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Geology from ASU (1990 and 1986) and dual B.S. degrees in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Minnesota (1983). His expertise encompasses geological processes, particularly those involving planetary materials and impact events.
Recent studies highlight his work on lunar and Martian meteorites, high-pressure mineral assemblages, and planetary surface evolution. He collaborates on initiatives like the FORCE facility for high-pressure experimentation and the Arizona Eclipse Ballooning Project. His contributions bridge laboratory research, fieldwork, and educational outreach in planetary science.
