Thomas Ryberg is a Professor of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Digital Learning at Aalborg University, serving as Director of the Institute for Advanced Study in PBL (IAS PBL). His research focuses on Networked Learning, digital transformation in education, and hybrid learning environments. He co-chairs the International Networked Learning Conference and co-edits Springer’s ‘Research in Networked Learning’ series. Ryberg leads projects like ‘Digital Problem Based Learning for Collaborative Competencies’ and ‘DigHumLab,’ exploring immersive technologies and learning spaces. His work addresses challenges in PBL adaptation to digital contexts, post-pandemic education, and ethical dimensions of learning technologies.
Key research interests include collaborative learning, media pedagogy, and the integration of Web 2.0/social media in education. He has engaged in international projects across Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, focusing on educational innovation.
