Prof. Thomas Rixen is a Professor of Comparative Public Policy at the University of Bamberg's Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences. Previously, he served as a research fellow in the Transnational Conflicts and International Institutions department from 2007–2012 and remains affiliated with the Global Governance department during visiting periods such as March–April 2019. His current research focuses on financial governance frameworks through projects like 'Design of Financial Governance (DEFIGO)' and the Horizon 2020 consortium 'COFFERS.'
Education: He holds a PhD from Jacobs University Bremen (with distinction) as part of the Collaborative Research Center 'Transformations of the State.' He studied in Bonn, Hamburg, Paris, and Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Research emphasizes international political economy, institutional theory, and public finance governance. He has taught global governance, institutional theories, and tax policy at universities in Bremen, Berlin, Potsdam, and Lucerne.
His work bridges theoretical institutional analysis with practical governance challenges in fiscal systems and financial market regulation. Current projects address regulatory frameworks for combating fiscal fraud and enhancing financial governance structures.
