Thomas Peter Giordano, M.D., M.P.H., is Professor and Section Chief of Infectious Diseases at Baylor College of Medicine, where he holds the MD Anderson Foundation Chair. He directs the Texas Developmental Center for AIDS Research and previously served as Medical Director of the Thomas Street Health Center. His research focuses on HIV testing, adherence to antiretroviral therapy, and retention in care. He earned a B.S./B.A. from John Carroll University, an M.A. from Cornell, an M.D. from Johns Hopkins, and an M.P.H. from UT Health.
His work has pioneered interventions to improve HIV care delivery, with over 180 peer-reviewed publications and leadership roles in national guidelines panels. He has secured continuous NIH funding since 2009 and leads multidisciplinary teams.
Research Focus: Dr. Giordano develops scalable models for HIV care retention, including clinic-wide social marketing campaigns and telehealth innovations. His current projects explore wastewater surveillance to track HIV transmission.
Grants & Leadership: Principal investigator for NIH R01 grants on HIV retention and CDC prevention initiatives; served on U.S. HHS Antiretroviral Guidelines Panels and FDA advisory committees.
